Update on International Shipping

Update on International Shipping

Let's start with the bad news first: Due to rising shipping costs and policy changes at the United States Postal Service (USPS), we are no longer able to offer free international shipping. We've been proud to offer it for a long time, but it just isn't sustainable for us at this point. All of the shipping service will be raising prices this holiday season, just like last year.

Additionally, as some of our customers know, we have had numerous issues with USPS, particularly First Class International (FCI), over the last year and a half. We've experienced spotty, unreliable tracking, packages disappearing - never to be seen again - and we've even had some customers (very patiently) wait as long as 8-10 weeks to receive their orders (we see you understanding superstars out there, and we thank you). This is absolutely unacceptable to us. Our customers deserve better. Just think how long your beard would be by the time you finally got your razor!

But now, for the good news!

We crunched the numbers and we will now be offering discounts on the premium shipping service DHL Express Worldwide. DHL has a lot of things going for it, particularly compared to USPS. It is better for you and better for us. It's a win-win.

The perks of DHL :

* Much faster shipping times. Average shipping times on DHL are 3-6 days, depending on where you are in the world. USPS FCI averages 7-21 days - and I can tell you, it is typically closer to the 21 days, if not significantly more than that. For real beard talk: 3-6 days equals fashionably rugged. 21 days? Total mountain man. Don't even get me started on what the ladies would look like.

* Consistent, reliable tracking throughout your package's journey. We've learned the hard way that USPS FCI tracking varies from country to country - and oftentimes, the tracking may stop completely. We have had several customers who have waited and waited, and when they emailed to let us know they received their order, USPS tracking was still showing the package hadn't yet been delivered. Or sometimes your package will end up in Indonesia.

* Better solutions and recourse, should a package go walkabout.  If USPS loses your package sent FCI, there is absolutely nothing that can be done. With DHL? The chances of finding the package, or it getting back to us should we send you a replacement, are infinitely higher.

It has been our experience that, in shipping - especially international shipping - you get what you pay for. Starting today, international customers who purchase $75 or more from our website will see their discounted *DHL rate at checkout. We'll be splitting the cost with you so that DHL will be more competitively priced. Better service at a better price - what's not to love? Your beard will thank you. As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to abovethetie@gmail.com

*DHL may not be available in all countries.
