Since 2014, the S1 Slant has been the preferred razor for a man who insists on a close, clean shave. The S1's twisted blade and rigid design creates a more pleasurable, drama-free shave than a typical double-edge razor—even for the thickest beard. It shreds stubble with zero burn.
In 2024, a decade after its first launch, the S1 design got an upgrade. We introduced a more efficient design, fully covered the blade tabs, and elevated the hand feel with more lavish finishes.

Classic:
Delicate machine lines are present, showcasing the expert machining. The top cap outer surface is lathe-turned for a perfectly smooth finish that maximizes glide - a staple of ATT since 2012.
Mirror Polished:
Each piece is polished by hand to a mirror shine and machine lines are removed on all exterior surfaces. Shave-critical surfaces are lightly polished to preserve tight tolerances.
The S1 Slant is a high-performing razor for all beards, skin types, and experience levels. With torsional blade rigidity owed to the slant design, the S1 provides a forgiving and efficient shave. Expect little blade feel on the skin and a bias toward pleasurable smoothness over raw efficiency.

I already loved my Windsor, but wanted to try the S1. I think this is THE ONE for me. It is a pure pleasure to use and it gives a great shave!

WOW, just WOW! The packaging and presentation are first rate and the razor itself stunningly beautiful with probably the finest polished titanium I have seen. The balance, handle size and knurling, and head size makes the razor very agile and allows me to confidently mow down hair anywhere on my face and neck (no razor tabs here). The razor is more efficient than the specifications would indicate (0.58 mm gap and neutral exposure), yielding a DFS+ to BBS shave in two passes that lasts an easy 8 to 12 hours. It is also one of the smoothest razors I have used. In combination with a sharp blade (Permasharp, Nacet, etc) it delivers on the promise of a “mild and efficient” shave, making the S1 a great daily driver that should be in every shave den.

I'm fascinated by the beautiful appearance with excellent build quality. I was impressed by the efficiency. The shave was excellent, and I easily achieved BBS with just two passes and a few touch-ups.

Even before shaving with my new S1 (titanium, classic finish, open comb), it was obvious that design and build quality are 1st rate. I’ve had 6 face shaves with the S1 and a Tomy (okay but not great blade). Balance and general in-hand feel are as good as with any DE I’ve used. Shaves themselves have been unusually effective, pleasant, and safe. Knurling on the handle is not harsh but allows a secure grip even if I’m not holding tight. Teeth on the open comb are especially smooth on the skin. The revisions from the original S1 are subtle (except covered blade tabs—a first for me, and I really like it) but noticeable in use. Overall, the S1 is a truly elite product. Well done! Finally, I should commend Blackland ATT and USPS for delivery to me on the East Coast just 3 days after I placed my order.

The S1 Slant is my first slant razor, so I didn't know what to expect. So far, I've only used it a couple of times, but the razor is efficient and very smooth, which is precisely what I enjoy. I also have a couple of Blackland razors, and the quality of the S1 Slant is excellent, as you'd expect.

Purchasing the Factory Second might have been a big mistake—not because it’s bad, but because I wouldn’t have regretted splurging on the polished titanium version either. This S1 Slant is an absolute masterpiece! In terms of overall facial impact, I’d rate it as "very mild" (2.5–3/10). Among my razors, only the Tatara Masamune is milder than the S1 CC. The blade feel is minimal, delivering a silky-smooth, drama-free shave. On top of that, the S1’s gentleness is exceptional! Unless you overdo the buffing, the alum won’t sting. It could be the last stop for those with sensitive skin like me. Efficiency wise, S1 is also solid, around 7–7.5/10. I have a fairly coarse Asian beard, but a 3-pass shave gets me to effortless BBS- (almost BBS). It’s got more than enough efficiency for daily use for me. Conclusion: DON’T BE INTIMIDATED BY THE “SLANT” NAME. This is a must-buy for fans of mild razors!!! P.S. The revival of the ATT brand and its legacy continuing into Roaring Twenties is truly significant. Thanks a million to Shane for keeping the S1 alive and the good deal, from a newbie shaver! Lastly, I’m eagerly awaiting the revival of the "X1" and the release of the Bird AL!!!
This is a "factory second" ? Could've fooled me. I couldn't find any flaws. The important thing is it shaved well with an assortment of blades. There was enough blade feel to let me know it was doing its job, but not so much blade feel as to irritate my skin. The efficiency was roughly equal to a Blackbird Lite. At the "factory second" price, this purchase was an excellent value.
I bought a factory second stainless steel S1 a couple of weeks ago and really like it. It shaves great but is a bit too heavy for me at 112 grams. So I ordered the Titanium version which is only 77 grams. It is the absolute perfect weight! It handles like a Porsche in curves. First I used my tried and true Persona red and it was great. I decided to try a Kia blade that I find more aggressive than the Persona and did not care for it. Today I tried a Feather blade that had one shave on it and I Loved it! Smooth as silk, actually it was the best shave I have ever had with a Feather Blade. I like Feather blades in my vintage Toggle razors, but this shave was even better than in the Toggles. The S1 Titanium Slant is not only beautiful but perfectly balanced and just the right length for my hand. Premium quality construction for sure. The packaging of the razor is first class, it represents the quality of a premium razor that the Titanium S1 is. I would highly recommend this razor to anyone.
This is my very first slant razor. I purchased the factory seconds. I specifically waited to have 4 days of growth to shave with it. This thing plow thur my hair with ease. Extremely impressed with it's performance. Above The Tie... Welcome BACK ! ! !
Took advantage of the Above The Tie factory-second sale on their S1 Slant. Wanted to try a slant for a while and this was a great opportunity! It gives me great face and head shaves and really shines for one pass and some clean up for me. It also does a good job on the stubborn stubble spots on my head. Even though it's a factory second, it's still of phenomenal quality, like my Windsor Collection and Blacklands.
Using the Above The Tie S1 Slant Razor is an ethereal experience. There are seven D.E. razors I usually use in rotation, coupled with a Feather blade, a Trufitt & Hill shave cream, whipped up with a White Mountain Badger brush in a Dragon shave bowl. After using this slant razor a few times, I'm thinking of using it every other day in my morning rotation. The shave experience is that good. The blade slant is set at an ideal shave angle, mows down stubble with no effort whatsoever. No nicks, no "puns", no errors. Couldn't help myself with that last line. Love the precision and craftsmanship of this S1 Slant!

As a lover of slant razors, I am completely blown away by the performance of the ATT S1. Shane and Co have taken a legacy razor and made it even better. My first shave was a very efficient one pass shave without excessive blade feel or discomfort. I recommend you let the weight of the razor do the work and just have a nice light grip on the handle. I highly recommend this Razor and its very stylish stand.

Excellent razor! Perfect blend of smooth and efficient. I have a thick beard and sensitive skin. The S1 effortlessly mows through 1-2 days of growth with no irritation. Fit and finish are top notch. Great job on this one!👌

First off, fit and finish is amazing. Paired with a Personna GEM the S1 devours my two days of growth. That being said it has significantly more blade feel than I thought it would have based on all the review videos I watched. The blade feel is somewhere in between my Blackland blackbird lite and normal plate. Will need to use a gentler blade for daily shaving. Still a great razor.

Bought the polished titanium during the Father’s Day sale. The titanium polish is flawless, the shaves initially were extremely close, but too much blade feel. I was on the verge of returning the S1, until it was suggested I tighten the handle slightly. Wow!! What a difference!! The Slant S1 is now an awesome razor that feels mild, but gives me the most satisfying, closest shaves I have ever had. Stunning!!

What impressed me most about the ATT S1 is that it delivers the smooth cutting sensation of a slant razor while remaining very easy and intuitive to use. Another thing I really like is that it makes even milder blades feel noticeably sharper and more efficient, which opens up a wider range of blades that I can enjoy using. I also have a couple of suggestions that might be worth considering. 1. This is not an issue during shaving, but I noticed that some edges of the head feel a little too sharp when handling the razor. Slightly rounding those edges could make the overall feel in the hand even more comfortable. 2. I found that the razor tends to lose some glide if I apply a little too much pressure. My impression is that the surface of the safety bar is slightly rough, so refining its finish might help improve and stabilize the glide. Of course, this is just my personal observation as an enthusiast rather than an expert.
Excellent shave. Built very well with nice esthetics. I just wish that the handle had a better knurling quality to have a less slippery grip.
The S1 is the first top tier slant that i have owned. I have had other slant razors. The aesthetic of the razor is excellent as is the balance. Most importantly, the shave was perfect. There is a little blade feel but that only goes to advise when the blade is engaged. The shave was very efficient and extremely smooth. It worked with various blades and produced a BBS shave each time. I highly recommend this razor to both novice and experienced shaver alike.
